April is Autism Awareness Month and the Burkhart Center at Texas Tech has been busy raising funds and awareness.

Christopher Ramos, a learning specialist at the Burkhart Center, teamed up with local businesses, Culture Clothing and Capitol Pizza, to give back 20 percent of their revenue to a scholarship for the Burkhart Center.

“Working with the Burkhart family really has like pushed me to make those connections like with Shawn from Culture Clothing,”Ramos said.

Shawn Anglin, the owner of Culture Clothing, said he hopes the event at his store is successful and that he hopes to see the store team up with the center again for a good cause.

Janice Magness, the director of the Burkhart Center, said this year’s walk was the 10th annual walk and that every year it gets bigger. She said she hopes the public will come out to support autism and to learn more about it through vendors provided at the event.

The walk took place Sunday 2-4 p.m. at the John Walker Complex at Texas Tech.
